Shoplifting: Dismissed and Sealed
A young girl was observed by a retail store security officer attempting to conceal merchandise on her person and attempt to flee the store without rendering payment. The security officer stopped the woman before she left the store premises and notified
police. Police arrived on scene, placed the woman under arrest and charged her with Shoplifting.
This woman, who had never been arrested before, was a college student and worked full-time, retained Attorney John L. Calcagni III to assist her with resolving this incident. John appeared with the woman at arraignment and brokered a deal with the prosecutor
to dismiss the case in exchange for the woman’s performance of community service hours. The Court dismissed the matter at the woman’s next court date and the case has since been sealed from the woman’s record. Congratulations to this otherwise good
woman who made a one-time bad decision.
