Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle: Dismissed
A police detective in an unmarked car observed a two-door BMW sports coupe break traction by screeching its tires and taking off at a very high rate of speed. The driver nearly lost control of the vehicle due to the rapid acceleration. The driver regained control and ultimately accelerated to a speed of more than 80 mph in a 50 mph zone in heavy traffic while weaving in between other cards. The police initiated a motor vehicle stop of the operator and ultimately charged him with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The motorist retained Attorney John L. Calcagni III to defend him in this matter. At a pretrial conference Attorney Calcagni successfully negotiated with criminal prosecutors to have this matter dismissed.
