Illegal Marijuana Indoor Grow Operation Charged in Attleboro Massachusetts

John L. Calcagni III

Criminal Charges:

Man Arrested by Attleboro Police and DEA and charged in Attleboro District Court, Massachusetts for Marijuana Trafficking.

Case Overview:

Attleboro Police Detectives, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Detectives from the Northern Bristol County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a building rented by a man in Massachusetts.  Inside, they discovered an astoundingly expansive, highly sophisticated marijuana indoor grow.  There were approximately 143 marijuana plants being grown in the building with an estimated street value, upon harvest, of $570,000.  The man who ran the operation did not have any type of licensure or permit to cultivate marijuana. Based on this discovery, police arrested the man and initially charged him in Attleboro District Court with marijuana trafficking.  He was initially held on $500,000 cash bail. The man and his family retained Massachusetts Drug Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, to defend him in this matter.

Case Result:

Client Released On $2,500 Cash Bail, Reduced from $500,000. Attorney Calcagni and his team appeared for the man at his arraignment where the District Attorney’s Office fought hard to keep the high bail in place.  Arguing for the defense, Attorney John D. Pensa persuaded the sitting judge to reduce the bail to the more practical and reasonable amount of $2,500.  As such, the man posted this bail and has since been released.   The matter remains pending.  Stay tuned for further updates.
